In the middle of the 12th century, a Romanesque church was built in “Edelisfeld”, to whose south portal the tower was later added. After the Thirty Years' War, the old St. Stephen's Church became a simultaneous church. The Stephanuskirche was the common church of Evangelicals and Catholics in Edelsfeld for over 250 years. It is dedicated to St. Stephen, who is the first Christian martyr to be worshiped. It has been Protestant since 1910. The church is the simultaneous church of 2020.
