The moated castle of Menzigen was a Renaissance castle that was destroyed towards the end of the Second World War.
The terrain looks scary, but exciting. Here you can let your imagination run wild.

I just saw (11/10/2022) that Komoot has reproduced the Wikipedia excerpt. That's why I deleted my post.Just this much. The best view is actually from the farm. Although the whole thing is much more idyllic from the side of the rest bench with the explanatory board.

The deep castle, designed as a moated castle, was first mentioned in a document in 1359. The Gothic moated castle was burned down by rebellious farmers in 1525. It was probably a two-story rectangular building with two corner towers. Due to the war damage caused by the bombing raid in 1945, this original Gothic building can be clearly seen again both through the exposed stone window frames and through the heavy surrounding roof cornice.
