A nice, large playground with all kinds of play equipment. It was created on the former site of the tram depot. You can still recognize it by the old rails that lead from Gärtnerstrasse to the playground. All sorts of wall remains make the playground something special.

A beautiful, large and spacious playground, rounded off by the walls of the old buildings from the tram depot

The Hoheluft-West ghost playground - a historic place
All that glitters is not gold, could be true here. The existing tram depot buildings are not old, but were rebuilt in 1997 to make them suitable for playgrounds; however, this brilliant idea resulted in an exciting themed playground on the almost 2 hectare site.

The tracks are still really old, as is the information that a horse-drawn tram depot was built here in 1888 by the Hamburg-Altona Northwestern Tramway Co. Ltd. Of course, there were stables and sheds and service apartments for the drivers and horse care staff. Eight tracks led into the largest hall, which was over 1,600m²; other halls and sidings were accessible via transfer tables and turntables. However, after various name changes and changes in use, the transport company's depot was closed in 1936. With it, the historic trams that had been stationed here in the meantime also disappeared. The only reminder of this is the rustic locomotive imitation, which is now available for children and young people to play with.

The adventurous ghost playground is easily accessible despite its courtyard location thanks to the entrances at Wrangelstrasse 83, Gärtnerstrasse 13 and Hoheluftchaussee - past the former Eicken tobacco factory (located there from 1886-1983). An unusual selection of equipment including the locomotive monster, a window worm climbing frame and a slide tower not far from an open-air stage perfectly complement the unusual playground.
