The fountain with its fresh spring water was already a popular meeting place and destination for carriage rides at the beginning of the 20th century. The bronze roebuck was created by the Baden sculptor Ludwig Kubanek in 1912 and a second time in 1924 after the first was stolen. The current copy dates from the 1960s and was made by the artist Hermann Geibel.
