Today, in crisp -8°C weather but with brilliant sunshine, I set off from Staufen into the Markgräfler vineyards.

Today's hike began in crisp, cold temperatures and brilliant sunshine. The starting point was St. Märgen, right in the center of town. After just a few meters, it was clear: cold fingers, but a feast for the eyes.



The trail led out of town along quiet paths and gentle inclines, first through open fields

Today's hike takes us from Waldkirch to Hohenhäusern. The start is cold, with temperatures well below zero, but the weather turns sunny quite early on, and the visibility is excellent. Right from the beginning, the trail climbs steeply up to Kastelburg Castle – a good way to warm up.

Today we continue along the Kandelhöhenweg trail, from St. Peter to Waldkirch. The path climbs steadily towards the Kandel mountain. The elevation gain is consistent, without becoming particularly challenging.
