The fortified church of St Peter, with its 17 renovated Gaden, is one of the best-preserved church fortresses in southwest Germany. In times of war, the residents took refuge in the church, which is protected by masonry and a flooded moat. The church chambers (Gaden) were used to house livestock and supplies and could be rented by farmers all year round. The cute Café Kirchenburg at the entrance to the complex is also recommended.

The fortified church in Lienzingen is a sensation! I have seen a few fortified churches. But this one really has to be called a fortified church. It is definitely unique in this area. I don't know of any comparable place in the whole world.
In the fortified church you will not only find valuable information about this, but also about the surrounding old town, which is quite rightly completely protected as a monument.
