The parish church St. Marien in Güstrow is one of the buildings of the 16th century; It was first mentioned in 1308 and is a work of North German brick Gothic. It was re-consecrated in 1509 after the great city fire of 1503. The conversion to a three-aisled hall church took place from 1880 to 1883. 1533 was first preached Lutheran here.
Among the works of art are the triumphal cross group, the winged altar from 1522 by the Brussels carver Jan Borman, the pulpit and the elaborate council stalls. In the years 2004 to 2009, the building was thoroughly renovated. The 53 m high tower can be climbed in summer.
