In 1896, the two-storey, historicizing Imperial Post Office was completed according to plans by Hubert. The main entrance is located in the corner of the building in the tower. Three gable projections structure the building. The four-storey, urbanistically dominant tower with a bay window, the surrounding balcony in the open upper level and the octagonal onion-shaped helmet with the lantern and the weather vane was renovated in 1956 and given a slate covering. After slate panels came loose and fell to the ground, the tower helmet had to be secured and renovated in 1984; it was now given a copper covering. In 1995, the helmet was renovated again, being removed and reinstalled using a special crane.
