    I was surprised to see this and can only surmise that it was built by the owners of the grand mansion that was Errwood Hall which is nearby.

      Off the old moorland Roman road is a shrine to St Joseph, protector of the Church, husband of the Virgin Mary.

      The shrine was and is a peaceful place to pray or meditate. The shrine is on the footpath below Foxlowe Edge which runs between The Street and Errwood Hall.
