In memory of a hunting drama, the massive memorial of about 3m high was erected 50 meters above the path.
On August 8, 1875, the royal forester Leonard Meier from Imgenbroich was mistakenly shot by Arnold Schreiner, who was based in Eicherscheid.
The path to the cross and the surrounding area has been maintained by the Eifelverein Eicherscheid for years.
