The summit of the Krufter stove is the highest point (463m) on the Laacher See. It is a forested peak and therefore the view of the surroundings of Lake Laacher is obscured. For a nice view, the Devil's Pulpit (view of the forest lake), which is located a little lower, is much better suited.

"The basalt cinder volcano Krufter Ofen is located south of Lake Laach. Its steep eastern flank drops to an oval, kettle-like depression. This depression drains into the Neuwied Basin through the so-called Halsgraben. On the east side of this depression, which is also called a "depression" in geomorphological terms, are the cinder volcanoes Heidekopf and Roter Berg. The lava flows from these three volcanoes lie under a thick pumice cover."
