According to legend, the giants who lived here had set up their cats' troughs here.
The Katzentrögel used to be the most popular excursion destination in the stone forest as a viewing platform. This changed with the construction of the Upper Palatinate Tower.
Today stairs and directions have been dismantled for environmental reasons.
