Pfaben has access to the most important hiking and cycling trails in the Steinwald. From the hiking car park at the information portal, it is only a few steps into the unspoilt low mountain range forest. Well-marked hiking trails lead to massive rock formations such as the Zipfeltannenfelsen, the Saubadfelsen and the Reiseneggerfelsen, to the game reserve at the serviced Waldhaus and to the Oberpfalzturm on the Platte. The place is near several climbing rocks (robber rocks, bird rocks) in the stone forest. In winter, around 50 kilometers of groomed trails invite you to go cross-country skiing. There is also a ski lift with a descent and a 1.5-kilometer circuit that is prepared for classic technology and skating. The Steinwaldhütte of the Regensburg section of the German Alpine Club is available for groups as a self-catering hut.
