Unlike the name suggests, the marble stone is not made of marble but of Taunus quartzite. This rock can be seen on many broken edges and cliffs in the Taunus.

The way up to the "marble stone" (actually white veined quartzite) leads quite steeply past several smaller rocks.
Currently (9/2019) the way is closed due to forestry work (wind break).

The area around the "marble stone" is currently officially closed due to forest work after a wind break (9/2019).
Large amounts of the surrounding forest fell victim to the storms around Frankfurt.

In fact (very) many storm damage in the area, but now cleared, so again fully accessible.

The marble stone rock formation is not really on the Herzberg, but is not too far from it. There are some other rocks in this area.

Absolutely great for climbing, also for children. Sturdy shoes and surefootedness required.

Very nice place to scramble and take a break. Especially during the week it is usually very quiet here and you can fully enjoy the view towards Frankfurt.

Nice hiking highlight. When it is wet, the way there is sometimes very slippery. There are some fallen trees on the way there.
