The 7,291-hectare Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park, together with the Alpe di Siusi nature reserve, with 56 km² the largest alpine pasture in Europe, forms a natural area. The eponymous Schlern applies with its two surveys Santner and Euringer as a symbol of South Tyrol. The nature park covers the three communities Castelrotto, Völs am Schlern and Tiers am Rosengarten. In 2003, the protected zone in the municipality of Tiers was expanded, since then also includes the imposing massif of the rose garden.
