At the turn of the century, when Holstein Switzerland was very much in vogue, the rich and famous came and built summer houses on the lakes. Those who could built on the Kellersee, because that was the most beautiful of them all. Among them was a certain Mr. Eggersdorf from Berlin.Eggersdorf had achieved considerable wealth as a merchant and had even been raised to the nobility. Perhaps that is why a simple villa did not seem right to him. Maybe he was a little eccentric too. In any case, “Schloss Eggersdorf” was out of the ordinary. Was even more sophisticated than other refuges. Fairytale. More wasteful.
The building from 1907 has been falling into disrepair for many decades. The garden has almost become a wilderness again. But it's not difficult to imagine the former grandeur. The large flight of stairs and the water features. The sculptures that populated the entire park. And white-clad summer visitors who pop champagne corks to the music of shellac records. The Kellersee is one of the house lakes of Malente. It can be reached from the train station via Janusalle, named after the Johannes Janus who opened the “Hotel Holsteinische Schweiz” in 1890. The word creation soon became a selling point and the entire region became a place of longing for illustrious guests. Artists, intellectuals, citizens and other free spirits loved the romantic landscape and the brightly shining Kellersee with its light bays and wooded banks.inderaehebleiben.de/kellersee

A Lostplaces in Schleswig-Holstein. Unfortunately, the view is already very overgrown.

Nice building, unfortunately a bit run down. Many years ago, this building had completely grown into the forest. Since various tree felling, details of what used to be beautiful outdoor facilities can be seen.
