The square still bears witness to this important city privilege. Surrounded by restored half-timbered houses from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance (15th to 17th centuries), it is still the center of numerous events, such as the annual horse market, St. Nicholas and flea markets and the New Year's Eve celebrations.
Armed with a scepter and coat of arms: a real "ruler's fountain". The original of the figure is in the city museum and was created by the stonemason Leonhard Baumhauer in 1566 on behalf of Duke Christoph. The armorer symbolizes the rule of Württemberg: in his left hand he holds a shield with the ducal coat of arms of Württemberg and the coat of arms of the city. Of the former nine fountains in the old town, it is now the only one.

The beautifully renovated half-timbered houses around the market square are fascinating.
The large fountain does the rest. In addition, in summer the outdoor restaurants liven up the market square
