The 678 meter high Eulenburg is not a castle, as the name suggests, but the elevation on which there were once observation towers. Eulenburg is the highest point in the region around Lippertsgrün. Directly on the edge of the hiking trail "Frankenwaldsteigla through Grubenholz" there is a stone with a plate with the story of the Eulenburg. The stone with the inscription "Eulenburg 678m" is about 50m further in the forest on the hill.

Eulenburg, but who now thinks of animals and castles is wrong! Rather, the name comes from "Fraischbach" and means the border stream between different jurisdictions. And Eulenburg used to be called "Eilenberg" and, due to its altitude, was part of a state-of-the-art defense and warning system in the 11th century: From watchtower to watchtower, "hurried" messages were transmitted, during the day by smoke signals, at night with the help of fire.
