Castle park from the former moated castle Wehningen, this was demolished in 1979 and leveled. Only the archway can be seen from the moated castle.
Also worth seeing is the old oak at the castle park.

A moated castle of the Bernstorff family used to stand here, but it was completely torn down and leveled in 1979 because of "border security measures" by the GDR. Nowadays there is only one archway.

The former Wehningen Castle from 1285 had a very checkered history until it came into the possession of Count von Bernstorff in 1842. At the end of the 18th century the castle burned down and was rebuilt in 1906. In 1979/1980 it fell victim to the border security measures of the GDR and was demolished.

Today only the archway and the beautiful castle park with mighty oaks, giant cedar trees and the castle pond are left. At the entrance to the Wehninger church from 1838, eleven bricks with imprints of dog and cat paws can be seen as a sign of excommunication. Inside the church is a remarkable 16th-century alabaster relief and painted carvings. In August 1996 a sculpture symposium took place in the castle park.
