Tips

  • Westerpark is part of the "Ornamented Farm" of the then owner, Caspar Voght.Jenischpark (formerly Süderpark) was also part of this site. The model farm was operated on the surrounding lands from 1785 onwards.Ten years later, the lord of the manor founded a tree nursery to plant his property, which was operated on the land of Westerpark for generations until the 1990s. After the nursery was relocated,
the area was renaturalized. The landscape regained its original appearance; the riverbed of the Kleine Flottbek was exposed, and its source valley was also redesigned.
The approximately 15.8-hectare park is crisscrossed by winding paths. In the north,
at Derbypark, rows of trees have been planted to commemorate the nursery's use.
Baron Voght's white country house is privately owned and located in the historic part of Westerpark, toward Jenischpark. Numerous apple trees are planted as an orchard on the path connecting to Jenischpark. Wide paths lined with mature trees lead to the lower part of the park. There, 14 springs characterize the planting of the wet meadows. There, garden enthusiasts will find the transition to the adjacent Wesselhöftpark.laurustico.de/index.php/hh-gruen/679-westerpark

  • The Westerpark was part of Caspar von Voght's "Ornamented Farm". The area northwest of Jenischpark was restored as a park in 1996-2003. Before that, the Lorenz von Ehren tree nursery was located there, and a quote from a tree nursery in the park is reminiscent of it.

  • Small park as a continuation of the Jenischpark with a continuation into the Wesselhoeftpark. Overall nice hike from Othmarschen to Teufelsbrücke and back along the banks of the Elbe.
