"... The Mühlenbach rises in the Mülheim district of Mintard at the Mintarder Höfe at a height of 40 m above sea level in a meadow south of the BAB 52 and directly west of the L 62. Its source is in the Ruhraue landscape protection area between Menden and Mintard not far from the Breithof stud.
The stream first crosses under the Mintarder Ruhrtalbrücke and then flows through meadows of the Auf'm Hofacker corridor in a north-westerly direction and east past the Niedener Hof riding facility. To the north of the riding stables it forms a tiny pond and immediately afterwards the Schmitterbach flows towards it on its left. On some maps, the Mühlbach itself is also called "Schmitterbach".
The Mühlenbach then runs, accompanied by Ruhrauenweg, 'through the Flachsrott corridor and feeds a second small pond there. A campsite is located east of the brook in the Staader Loch corridor. The stream now flows more and more in a northerly direction through the Hopp Morgen and Auf dem Großer Driesch corridors. At the corridor Am Kirschbäumchen he then aligns his walking direction to the north-north-west. He then moves through a small wood to the west past the former excursion restaurant Haus Kron with a campsite. On the other side there is the 106.3 m high Au-Berg.
The Mühlbach now flows through grassland past a small pond, then crosses the Ruhrauenweg in a west-northwest direction and then runs northwards on the eastern edge of the 47.5 hectare Ruhrtalhang nature reserve along the Auberg. ... "
