The Schanzenturm is the former largest water tower in Europe on a hill at the Sternschanzenpark. Built from 1907 to 1910 by the architect Wilhelm Schwarz. In use until 1961, the tower was gutted from 2005 and the water tower was converted into a luxury hotel under police protection and opened in 2007 as the Mövenpick Hotel Hamburg.
