The Old Alster originates here in the Nienwohlder Moor. Unfortunately, the source is inaccessible, but the outflow ripples a long way along the way here, looks like an inconspicuous ditch, but is good at water. It flows from the outskirts of Nienwohld as a real small meadow river and flows into the "right" Alster just above Gut Stegen.
