Road cycling

Due to its size and its state of preservation, the Nienwohlder Moor is one of the most important Atlantic raised bogs in Schleswig-Holstein. Peat was mined here on a large scale until the late 1970s. The moor was later renatured. Birds that have become rare, such as marsh harriers and whinchats and stonechats, have settled here as a result of the rewetting. At times, cranes also inhabit the Nienwohlder Moor. But not only birds feel at home here. On sunny days you can see up to twenty different species of dragonflies.
