Tips
The monastery is over 900 years old and emerged from the oldest Benedictine monastery in the Meißen region. Over the centuries, this monastery developed into a very wealthy provision monastery for the unmarried daughters of noble landowners. There are currently no nuns living in the monastery; instead, the city administration is based here and, since 1995, a family-friendly zoo has been inviting visitors to visit.
