A cold, slightly mineral, ferrous sulphate-carbonate-chloride acid spring bubbles up at the former Säuerling hammer mill in the valley of the Stabnitz stream.
This powerful effervescent water bubbles copiously and fills a granite water reservoir with the year 1698 carved on the front.
The spring has been known since 1588 and has been repeatedly visited by spa guests.

The town of Säuerlingshammer got its name from the local spring and belonged to the municipality of Alt Albenreuth (Mytina). However, its term weapon hammer does not refer to the production of weapons, but to the production of crafts such as scythes, sickles and ploughshares, etc., which were used for cultivating the soil.
The place belonged to the municipality of Alt Albenreuth, whose history is closely linked to gold prospectors and mining, which is probably linked to the existence of the hammer.
lm 17th century the acidulous spring at the mill became known, in which any guests were later accommodated.

The "Säuerling-Quelle" is in the valley of the Stabnitzer Bach. A cold, slightly mineralized ferruginous sulphate-carbonate-chloride acid spring bubbles up. The spring has been known since 1588 and many spa guests from Bavaria came here in the 16th century.

        A wonderful spring. It's a cold, slightly mineralized, iron-rich sulfate-chloride spring.
It's beautiful how the water ripples along in the silence. There's also a bench for resting and having a snack.
