The extensive body of water, surrounded by lush greenery and dense bank vegetation, offers beautiful views and attractive photo opportunities, especially in the quiet evening hours. Several former gravel pits, including the Salmengrund, are located in the vicinity of Seltz and shape the landscape along the Rhine today.

The quarry pond or the Epple gravel pit is close to the Plittersdorf-Seltz Rhine ferry.
There is also a campsite with a lido on the lake by the jetty.
The lake can be circumnavigated. There are plenty of fishing spots on the west bank. On the east bank you walk a bit along the gravel works on a wide asphalt road.

A fairly large gravel pit lake on the French side near the PlIttersdorf ferry.
Many recreational activities include a campsite, swimming bays, fishing spots, etc.
Dredging is still in progress here. This lake (“gravière Epple”) is therefore not as idyllic in atmosphere as the smaller neighboring lake (“gravière de Munchhausen”).
