The "Schwatte Päd" is one of the traditional restaurants in Neuss and one of the oldest restaurants on the Lower Rhine. Rembold Breuer already brewed beer here, which he served to his guests. In the 18th century the "Schwatte Päd" was run by the Herbertz family. In 1870 it was transferred to the Esser family, who ran it until 1963. The following years were marked by frequent changes of tenants. In 2018 the “Schwatte Päd” was reopened after a long period of vacancy.
