The fief remained in the possession of the von Laach family until the beginning of the 16th century. It was followed by a von Horst family, from which it passed to the von Plettenberg family in 1520. Anton von Harff was the owner of the castle site in 1610, from which it passed to Degenhart Wilhelm von der Horst in 1692.
