Mountain Biking Highlight (Segment)
The Hoheward dump is part of the "Route of Industrial Culture" and the Hoheward Landscape Park. When visibility is good, the all-round view in every direction is breathtaking. This is supplemented by informative panorama boards.
The horizon observatory was built on the summit plateau in 2008. The modern structure consists of a circular, flat surface, a sunken forum and two arches with a radius of approx. 45 m, which span the square like the great circles meridian and celestial equator. The horizon observatory is designed to represent a modern version of prehistoric stone circles and structures like Stonehenge.
Shortly after the opening of the facility, cracks were found in the equatorial arch and the facility was closed for safety reasons and the arch was temporarily supported by two additional pillars. When it will be accessible again is unfortunately still open. A visit is still worthwhile.

It was a great trail with a great single track feeling and beautiful nature.
However, the operators of the trails on the Hoheward "repaired" the trail at the beginning of 2021.
They put split chips and pebbles on it so that you get nice abrasions when you lie down.
In addition, the trail is now so wide that it feels more like a developed hiking trail for walkers than a single trail.
People even run up there regularly, even though it is signposted as a mountain bike route.
Looks too much like a forest path.
It's a shame about the route, absolutely no longer a recommendation.
(Update comes when improving).
