Bike Touring Highlight
At the entrance to the Hoheward heap, you will be greeted by a dragon: its steel head rises 18 meters and the bridge railing rests against the ribs of the fire breather. 198 tons of steel are said to have gone down for the construction. A cool bridge in any case.

A really nice bridge where the designers have surpassed themselves.
Unfortunately disfigured by some "free spirits" with spray cans, eddings and stickers.

Some of the pictures are really good.
Great when the dragon is looking through the trees or the black and white studies have something sublime.

The Dragon Bridge is not the main access to the heap, but by far the most interesting and beautiful.
The curved structure flows into a dragon's head looking at the visitors to the bridge.
The only criticism is the, in wet, a bit slippery surface.

The dump Hoheward is a mining dump in the Ruhr area. It originated from the foundations of the Ewald colliery and the General Blumenthal colliery.
Located between the cities of Herten and Recklinghausen.
Together with the Halde Hopfenbruch it forms the largest heap landscape of the Ruhr area.

The way to the dump Hoheward, I find a successful bridge

Artfully designed bridge as a transition from the heap Hoheward to Recklinghausen. The look is based on a dragon, hence the name "Dragon Bridge". Only for pedestrians and cyclists to use - no cars. From there you can continue the bike path to Recklinghausen. In the other direction you can either use the balcony promenade of the heap which leads you completely around the heap at half height, or you can dare the ascent to the very top.

Absolutely worth seeing and the gate to the Hoheward heap

The "Drachenbrücke" access is by far the most spectacular entry into the circular route in the Halde.
Due to the lack of parking spaces at this entrance, it is rather quiet.

It connects the Hochlarmark district park with the Hoheward spoil tip

The Drachenbrücke was built in 2008 and has since connected the Hochlarmark district park with the Hoheward stockpile. At present (05.2020) there are complex renovation works on the foundations of the bridge, but it is still accessible.

The dragon bridge is simply worth seeing. First a visit to the dump and then down to the kite
April 21, 2021
A construction worth seeing and a nice opportunity to get to the Hoheward dump.
July 17, 2021
The Dragon Bridge is already a very unusual and impressive bridge, which immediately catches your eye.

The dragon bridge leads directly to the Hohewart dump. Nice to look at

Ingenious bridge from Hochlarmark to Halde Hohewart.
Very nice access from the remarkable Recklinghausen II mine, shaft 4.
The Hohewart stockpile has much more interesting highlights to offer.

Here there is a nice opportunity to drive on or leave the Hohewardt dump, e.g. to continue towards Recklinghausen KLT!

Great bridge on the south side of the heap

Yes, the dragon is worth seeing.
However, this highlight invasion is sad. Would it be really nice if Komoot would intervene
