    Donners Park Ottensen
In 1793, the friends Georg Heinrich Sieveking, Conrad Johann Matthiessen and Piter Poel acquired a country estate together in Neumühlen in what is now the Hamburg district of Ottensen. They seem to have immediately started redesigning their property, because two years later there was already talk of a so-called mountain bosquet, a fir plantation on a leveled hilltop, and a straw hut with wonderful views of the Elbe.

In 1820, the banker and later conference councillor Conrad Hinrich Donner acquired the property.
He had the old country house, which had probably existed before 1750, renovated
and enlarged the country estate by purchasing land.
From 1856 to 1858 he had the so-called "Donnerschloss" built by the Berlin architect Johann Heinrich Strack. In the following years, the park design was geared towards the castle in order to put it in the spotlight. For example, the old mill pond was given a landscaped shape with a small island and served as a mirror pond to stage the castle.

In the years 1863 to 1865, the Donner family, who were one of the most important families in Altona in the 19th century, expanded the park property again to the southeast.

In 1911, the approximately 54,000 m² park was purchased by the city of Altona and prepared as a public park. A large horticultural exhibition was prepared for 1914 on the grounds of Donner Park, the rose garden and parts of Heine Park. This exhibition brought about profound changes to Donner's Park.
The park is now an important garden monument. The current care and development concept is the basis for restoring lost qualities, also taking ecological concerns into account.

Large park with a great view of the Elbe. Lots of benches to rest on.
