Tips

  • Arnulfstrasse 9, was destroyed in World War II. The still existing wing of the building is used as a branch of the Federal Railway Office. New baroque tuff stone building with a 72 m high dome. Architect Carl Hocheder. The building was intended to demonstrate Bavaria's right to reserve post and rail in the German Ksiserreich. The dome disappeared in 1959 and the gate construction also fell victim to the construction of Arnulfstrasse in 1966.

  • The building for the Bavarian Ministry of Transport was located in Munich at Arnulfstraße 9. Parts of the wings of the building that still exist after the destruction of the Second World War are used by a branch of the Federal Railway Authority.

  • The elongated, slightly concave neo-baroque tufa building with a rich sculptural structure was built between 1906 and 1913 on both sides of Arnulfstraße, the two wings of the building were connected by a gate building that reached across the street. The extensive northern part of the building was grouped around a 72 meter high dome, the highest in the city. The architect was Carl Hocheder. The representative building was also intended to demonstratively showcase Bavaria's reserve right to its own railway and post office in the German Empire. The sculpture The Mourners has been in the cupola hall since 1927.In the course of reconstruction after 1945, individual tracts of the heavily war-damaged complex were removed: in 1959, a landmark of the city disappeared with the dome visible from afar, and in 1966 the gate building also fell victim to the expansion of Arnulfstrasse.Source and more info
