Born in 1806 as Johann Baptist Berger, he later initiated various projects as a pastor here in Boppard. He had church property renovated (chapel, church, stations of the cross). He had the health center expanded to the Holy Spirit and founded an orphanage. He also worked as a poet. He wrote both Christian and homeland-related poems and songs. Here at the place where his statue was erected was his favorite place in nature.
