If you don't have via ferrata equipment, you can rent it in Boppard for €5 (€20 deposit and present your ID or driver's license) at the Aral gas station or at Basecamp Boppard. However, you should be sure-footed and have no problems with a fear of heights. Otherwise, the via ferrata is easy to do, even for children. If you don't like climbing, you can walk the entire path with the alternative hiking trail.
