The small chapel is dedicated to the Christian missionary Boniface. It is not particularly pompous, but a place of rest and reflection. Yesterday it protected us from a sudden downpour.

The Bonfitius Chapel is connected to the Boniface legend of Hülfensberg, according to which Saint Bonfitius, as a missionary, is said to have felled the Danube Oak near Geismar. This event is documented, but whether it was actually in Geismar or the one near Fritzlar remains unknown.Unfortunately, the chapel is closed.
