Already at 9:00 clock were 28 degrees. In order not to stay entirely in the apartment, we made this short but also strenuous trip over the vineyards. The ice in Dernau compensated for all, really all efforts. The descent to Dernau is fierce. Here, over 300HM within a kilometer are overcome. Stark brakes should you have ...
We parked our bikes at the train station in Altenahr. From here it was on foot in the small village. The way to the castle is well signposted. Before the house number 58 it goes steep, really steep uphill. The path can only be negotiated on foot and is covered with shards of slate and lime. After this short (maybe 300m) ascent, you immediately get a reward in the form of a great view of the town. Luckily, there are a few benches on the site of the ruin and also some shade was found. The panoramic view from the "tea house" at the top is priceless.
In fact, it was about 300Hm. Behind Grimmigen we had lost a bit. The tour led us thus past a huge golf course and the forest chapel we would not have seen without the detour. If everything was not so bad, you would not have filled the beautiful forest trails with blue-gray gravel. A forest owner with whom we had contact said that he did not want it that way ...
It was a strenuous tour in the heat. Originally we wanted to go back with the Ahrtalbahn from Ahrbrück. Since the train drove us out of our noses, we decided to continue cycling. It was good that way, but it is usually slightly downhill. The altitudes are not right again, very annoying.
Ich bin Baujahr 1966, wohne im Eichsfeld und wie man sieht, wandere und radele ich gern. Meist ist auch meine Frau dabei.
