Presumably the archaeological and historical remains of Galway City.
Very imposing integrated into the architecture.
A short detour on the city tour is definitely worth it

When the house next door wanted to expand, the remains of a house were found here. This was built from the stones of the nearby castle. The castle became dispensable due to the construction of the city wall.
The family that ran the city's fortunes lived in this house. Here, for example, justice was served. The house later got a new roof. To do this, columns were placed in the house and brick pillars were created outside. After another person was elected head of the city, the residents gave up the house. It was then used as a melt. The furnace is in the shape of a cross, pointing towards the (holy) spring nearby. It was hoped that this would bring blessings for the work and business with pig iron.
You can read all of this here and understand it based on the exposed remains of the wall and the exhibited finds. The supervisory staff is also happy to provide details and is available to answer questions.
Anyone interested in the history of the city should definitely take a look at the excavation site.
