St. Laurentius Church (Weinheim)

The roots of today's town church go back to the 8th century, when the chapel "Maria in den Feldern" was documented on the same site.
Today's St. Laurentius Church above the market square was designed in the style of an upper Italian basilica based on the model of San Lorenzo in Rome, built from 1911 to 1913 and consecrated on May 13, 1914 by the Archbishop of Freiburg. The tower was built around 1850 according to plans by the Baden architect Heinrich Hübsch, who was born in Weinheim. Over the past 5 decades, the church has been redesigned inside and largely restored to its original state.
