"The" landmark of the place is the famous "Ilmbacher Tor" (entrance of a farmstead) opposite the Catholic Church. It was once the entrance gate to the Carthusian Monastery of Ilmbach (1423-1803), only a few kilometers west of Gräfenneuses. This monastery was dissolved during the secularization of 1803 and released for demolition. Only the magnificent portal could be saved.
The influential Count Erwein von Schönborn (as an adjoining hunting friend to his hunting colleague Dietmeyer) gave Dietmeyer the portal in 1848 as a gate entrance to his farm. The three-part sandstone portal has a round arch passage and side entrances, richly decorated with rococo.
Saints Joseph and Mary can be seen in the canopy, surrounded by balustrades, ornamental obelisks and vases. The entire goal ensemble is a work of art that is second to none.
