This became an out and back as the bridge was up and never seemed to come back down 😀 There was a tall-masted boat underneath there and it didn't seem to be moving.
Mystery - but was a great excuse to run back along the Barrage separating the sea from the bay. My favourite place ❤️
Today was very strong winds and rain especially on the route across the Barrage. Felt so alive! 😅😍🥰

The Spartan race series offers a selection of distances - 5K, 10K, the half Marathon and the Ultra. The routes are typically winding up and down slopes. The differentiator is that every course includes obstacles that are extremely challenging. Failed obstacles have a forfeit - typically an extra run on a forfeit run loop or 30 burpies.

This was the Spartan Beast which is the half marathon distance. However, in Spartan tradition, the distance turned out to be 25K in the end :) 30 obstacles peperred the hilly course - including a swim across a lake with a wooden log. I can't swim so this was a lot of fun.

This route visits the sea, the bay, Pontcanna fields, trees, rivers and bridges. It's always an absolute pleasure cycling this route
