We started before sunrise 🌅 with light rain and the 🌙 setting in the west. We dropped into the Canyon on firm but often muddy trail 🥾, especially through the red layer (1800m to 1400m) The views were **epic** from first light to moonrise 👀✨. At Tipoff Point ⛰️ we chose to go all the way down to the river 🌊. The lower part of the Bright Angel Trail is currently closed for construction 🚧, so we made a 6 km detour: back up to Tipoff Point 🔁 and then west on the Tonto Trail 🧭. We climbed Bright Angel Trail ⛰️ and reached the rim exactly as the sun set and the moon rose 🌇🌕. After that, we cruised along the rim beneath a nearly full moon, finishing tired and happy ✨. I hiked almost the same loop back in 1992 when I cycled 🚲 from Los Angeles to Alaska. 34-year-old memories became vivid. **Route highlights:** - South Kaibab to Tipoff Point ⛰️ — **epic canyon panoramas** all the way 📸 - Down to the Colorado River 🌊 - Detour back to Tipoff because of closures 🚧 - Tonto Trail traverse 🧭 with wide‑open, **epic** vistas 🏜️ - Up Bright Angel to the rim ⛰️ - Rim Trail under moonlight 🌕

🌄 Grand Canyon Rim Walk + Bright Angel Test Dinner plans turned into a canyon adventure—vertigo test passed! ✅ We started with a pleasant stroll from the lodge to the restaurant along the Rim Trail, enjoying sweeping views of the Grand Canyon 🏜️. With time to spare, we ventured a short way down the Bright Angel Trail 🥾—famous for its steep switchbacks and dramatic drop-offs. Result: Gregor and Susanne holding hands 🤝 and staying far from the edge works for her vertigo! Fun Facts: • 🏜️ The Grand Canyon is 450 km long, up to 30 km wide, and over 1,800 m deep, carved by the Colorado River over millions of years. • 🌟 Bright Angel Trail began as a Native American route and was later improved by miners in the late 1800s. Today, it’s one of the most iconic hikes in the world.

Explore Flagstaff’s charming streets 🏛️, where century-old buildings and Route 66 history 🚗 meet cozy cafés ☕ and local art 🎨. Founded as a railroad town in the late 1800s, Flagstaff grew with lumber and tourism, becoming a gateway to the Grand Canyon 🌄. Fun fact: The city was named after a flagpole raised by pioneers in 1876! Enjoy cool mountain air 🌳 on this easy loop.

Nice hike around the Twin Buttes. The area near the Chapel was really busy, but we were lucky . The famous White Line is located on east side of the East Twin Butte. The north side of the loop is a double black diamond MTB trail.

Another nice day and spectacular views in Sedona. Sunny skies and 10C. Towards the end we saw 5 wild boar eating cacti. Not sure how they are able to do that.
This is a very nice hike. However, this is also very popular just outside of Sedona.

We set off from the Brins Mesa trailhead and climbed into a world of glowing red sandstone and big skies. The trail weaves across natural rock steps 🪨, then opens onto the mesa where the view stretches over buttes and valleys like a stone ocean. All along the way, the desert is alive: juniper and pinyon
This park is a hidden gem tucked in the remote southeastern corner of Arizona. It's just surreal, and we would highly recommend it. Chiricahua National Monument is actively being considered for redesignation as a National Park, with bipartisan bills introduced in Congress (like the Chiricahua National Parks Act) that have passed the Senate but still await House approval.

Cold and rainy start with temps hovering around 5C. The rain cleared the air and gave us spectacular views.
Also not suitable for tree huggers. The eastern part of the the Suguaro NP is a little greener. The ground was even a little damp, perhaps from the rain 2 days ago.

This place is not suitable for tree huggers 😅. Nevertheless, this is a very nice hike through the Arizona desert. The 🌵growths its first arm at 75 years and lives 150 to 200 years. They can reach a hight of 15m.
