Nice snowshoe route from Hannigalpe cable car station to Wannehorn. A couple of steep sections but, not a difficult route. Starts through a wooded area before opening up along a mountain track to the top of Wannehorn. Couldn’t get to the cross in the photos due to deep snow and the risk of Avalanche. Oddly, the Cross is not located at the highest point of Wannehorn. However, great views of Zermatt & Saas Fee valleys.

Located in the amazing Simplon pass, which is great in Summer and Winter. This was a hike we attempted a couple a few days ago but, had to abandon due to weather conditions. Today was cold, light wind but very sunny. The route was easy enough to find and follow and gently challenging. Snow was deep in places but the views around the pass are stunning. Once at the top there is no option to continue around the Touchuhorn due to avalanche risks. This is best done in the summer and is a great hike, especially getting to the top of Touchuhorn. Would recommend this pass in summer and winter.

Great route, having snowed overnight the snow was deep, soft and challenging. Steep long route, stopped along the way to have lunch and admire the views which, were spectacular. First part of route was alongside ski runs, wasn’t long before the route moved away. Took cable car back to car park. Would recommend the route as a must.

Our plan was to Snowshoe to the top of Staldhorn and back. However, wind forecast was 10kph, but unfortunately the wind picked up to approximately 25/30kph which made visibility a challenge and in addition the route was covered in deep snow in parts which made it a challenge to navigate. Light started to be flat so we couldn’t make out the contours so we decided to abandon our hike and return on another clearer day.

Returned to this area to do the Erzegg Snowshoe trail as the weather was not so good the last time we were here. Once away from the skiers the route doesn’t disappoint. Walking the ridge line gave great views into the next valley and across the Alps. Some uphill sections were challenging due to fresh snow, but the route is very straight forward. And once the clouds had cleared the views were stunning.

Great snowshoe trial, although route at time was challenging due to snowdrifts, which meant it took longer going up as we had to find alternative ways round drifts. Amazing views from the top, would recommend this route, especially on sunny clear days

Route took us from Grän Lemberg car park through forest along side ski run up to Fussener Jochl aiming for Lumberer Grat, but too much snow on the top with risk of avalanche. So we made our way to Sebenalpe. Route was not too challenging and had good views around the valleys. Would be a nice route to hike in the summer.

Nice high snowshoe trail, although not well marked but weather was clear enough for us to push higher up the mountain without losing direction. Most of the route is away from skiers so quite peaceful. Cable car is new and unusual where you are able to press a button for the station you wish to get off and it will take you without stopping at any of the other stops. Operates a bit like lifts in a department store.

Located in small village of Brunni. Started with an interesting little cable car that running approximately every 20 minutes, which you pay when you get to the top rather than on entry. Followed the marked route, which at first is close to the ski runs, but later splits away to more peaceful area. Nice views of the two main local peaks Gross Mythen and Choi Mythen. Towards the end there are great views of the central Alps and open plateaus. Long route, but fairly straight forward
