About Rimo

As always, an early round on Friday.
I start my lap through Landalpark and then walk past Harles to Vijlen.
I greet the deer (and the rabbit) at the Boscafé and follow narrow forest paths to Lodge 7. The rest of the way downhill and home via Vaalsbroek.
I wish everyone a nice day and a wonderful weekend! 😊🙋‍♂️

Today, July 29, 2021, I wanted to be the first to conquer the highest peak of the Niederlayas. The preparations did not go smoothly. The Sherpas were not allowed to leave their country due to Covid restrictions, so I had to carry everything myself, the backpack with rain jacket, banana and water bottle. I chose to climb without oxygen, which in turn saves weight.
But the weather forecast was favorable. Cloudy, dry, later sun possible and no thunderstorm or avalanche warning.
I set out early to stay ahead of other expeditions. Over Meelenbroek and the Massif van Vijlen it went into the mountains, and I walked smoothly up. It was tough, but it was worth it.
Once at the top, I was happy to say that I was the first today! Took a few photos as evidence and went back down the mountain on the German side.
That was a real adventure! 🤣🌋
I wish you all a nice day, and now to work 😊🙋‍♂️

Today I was only able to go for a walk later in the day and made a simple lap along Vaalsbroek to the Vijlenerwald, then through the forest to Holset, and since the bridge at my house has not yet been repaired, via Lemiers back home.Stifling weather, every now and then a drop fell, but it didn't turn into rain. (now it's raining!)I wish you all a nice evening! 😊🙋‍♂️

Today a hike through the Volsertal and over the Orsbacher Plateau.
I go through the middle of the Volsertal, through the Landalpark to Holset and via Harles to Mamelis. There I go uphill and hike over the Orsbach plateau. At the end a little bit through the Schneeberg forest. Then between the golf courses, back to Vaals. I hadn't done any weekend shopping, my fridge was empty. That's why I went shopping at the supermarket in Vaals and then went home.
There was a short rain shower on the way, but it was mostly sunny with rapidly changing clouds.I wish everyone a pleasant day! 😊🙋‍♂️

Today I am going on a hike through the Gerendal, starting and ending in Gulpen (where I almost forgot to start Komoot). I go over the Dolsberg to Wijlre, and further along the Geul to Schin op Geul.
Some parts of the grass paths are still closed because of the flooding, as pieces were washed away. But I climb over fences and jump over ditches and just go my route. In Schin I go a little further along the Geul to Gerendal. This is a beautiful valley in a beautiful 5-star landscape, with an orchid garden in the middle. This year the garden is unfortunately closed due to Covid. Then over a beautiful grass path full of wild flowers to Scheulder, and on over the Margraten plateau back to Gulpen. The bus arrives in a few minutes. It starts to rain while waiting for the bus, so I planned my walk well and had a lovely sun the whole way.
I wish you all a nice evening! 😊🙋‍♂️

It's Friday again, so an early walk. It's wonderfully cool outside. Very pleasant!
I hike via Holset through the Volsertal and then via the field road to Oud Lemiers Castle. Via the Schneebergweg to Vaals and back home for breakfast with fresh coffee.
I wish everyone a nice day and a wonderful (hiking / cycling) weekend! 😊🙋‍♂️

I wasn't able to walk until late today when it was way too hot for a long walk. But it was excellent weather for a nice walk to the ice cream parlor.
The meadow path behind Vaalsbroek Castle in the blazing sun was really too hot for me. So on through the cool forest of the Vijlenerwald and then through the forest on the slope of the Vaalserberg back to Vaals.
The ice cream was delicious! 🍨😋

Have a nice evening everyone! 😊🙋‍♂️🌞

Since I have a lot of appointments today, I set off early on a small tour of the Schneeberg and a visit to the weekly market in Vaals.
At the campsite I go over the small bridge to Germany and then up to the Schneeberg. I follow the panorama path halfway and then return to the Orsbach plateau via the grass path located higher up. Along the golf courses back to Vaals. First a few purchases in the supermarket and then to the market to buy fish, fruit and vegetables.
At home there is coffee with cake!
The sun is shining wonderfully, so I wish you all a nice (hiking) day! 😊🙋‍♂️🌞

Today a house round that begins with a small detour. The bridge at the foot of the hill (near the manege) was destroyed by the water of the always peaceful babbling (and sometimes dry) Zieversbeek. Then I hike through Holset and through the middle of the Volsertal to the Vijlenerwald. I go back via Meelenbroek. It is partly cloudy with sun and pleasantly cool in the forest. Great hiking weather.I wish you all a nice evening! 😊🙋‍♂️

I usually go towards the Dreiländereck on Sundays to visit some of my favorite places in Öcher Bosch and Preuswald.
Today I buttoned a few together into a nice route for this sunny Sunday.
First through Vaals, past the town hall and across the border at Kleng Wach. Then through the Vaalserbergwald to Türmchen Beeck. Over the Geusenweg to the Melatenwiese, and then with a loop around the Friedrichwald to greet my beloved gnarled trees at the Innerer Landgraben Hasselholz. Further uphill over the Grünweg to the Green City Wall, then through the Preuswald on a (muddy) MTB route along old Bronze Age burial mounds. On the way back to the border triangle I pass the old boundary stones of Prussia, Burgundy and Neutral Moresnet.
Finally to the Lourde cave on the slope of the Vaalserberg and through the Wolfhagerwiesen back to Vaals.
      A beautiful and varied route!
      I wish everyone a nice day 😊🙋‍♂️
