A short bike ride during my lunch break over the Schaichberg 🚴 into the Neckar Valley and back. Unfortunately, I'm short on time; otherwise, I would have loved to ride for another hour in this beautiful weather. 🌞☺️

An hour and a half of cycling + 40 minutes cleaning horse and rider. And I didn't even do the laundry. 🤷‍♂️ Well, you just don't ride on the Filderland farm roads in winter unless you absolutely have to. 🤦‍♂️

In the Aich Valley and on the Filder Plain, it was a real thick blanket of fog. Really gloomy, with visibility under 50 meters. But as soon as I descended into the Neckar Valley just before Esslingen, the fog lifted and a beautiful winter day greeted me. 🌞



The reason for the trip 🚴 to Esslingen was

A nice shuttle ride on my gravel bike. 🚴 In some sections, the protected forest paths 🌲🌳 were still quite icy ❄️ and slippery. But otherwise, the route was easy to ride. The weather was so-so, but the temperature was pleasant.

There could definitely have been nicer days 🌞 with better conditions this week, but I simply didn't have time for cycling – apart from the short trip to get derailleur pulleys on Wednesday. So I was all the more pleased that I managed to get on my bike 🚴 for a short ride today. 🤗

To at least warm up a bit, I chose the return route via Dörnach, Walddorf, and Häslach. 🚴 And at the end, I made a quick stop at a bakery 🥨 in Grötzingen.



But despite all the warming climbs ↗️, after sunset 🌄 it gets chilly. 😄

As so often before: First up to the Häslach water tower. 🚴 Then – still on asphalt – via Walddorf and the Eckberg roundabout to Kälberstelle, and then down to Tübingen and through the Neckar Valley to Nürtingen. With a little detour via Altdorf, just to rack up a few more meters of elevation gain

Well, if someone had told me back in the '80s that four decades later, on some days in December and January, you could easily cycle in shorts 🩳 in our latitudes, I probably would have given them the finger 🐦.



And so it became a lovely ride in light clothing into the sunset 🌄. 🤗

It was almost a full daylight ride. 🚴😃 If it weren't for a chat stop and a stop at the bike wash station 🚲🚿 in Neckartenzlingen. 😅 But otherwise, no errands. That's rare. But not without reason. Because to make sure my new 9 kg washing machine was really full and could therefore work efficiently
