This was more of a scouting mission than a full hike, as I’m planning to walk the New River Path properly next week. After hearing from another hiker that the long-closed section over the M25 had recently reopened, I wanted to check it out for myself.
Rather than making this a long walk, I joined the New River Path just after Cheshunt and followed it through to Enfield Chase. The path was surprisingly quiet, with only a few fellow walkers but quite a few cyclists along the way.
The highlight was definitely crossing the M25, a section of the New River Path I’d never walked before. There was also a small diversion near Turkey Street due to some ongoing works, but otherwise the route was straightforward and enjoyable.
Overall, a short but worthwhile scouting walk, and it’s given me a good idea of what to expect when I tackle the full New River Path next week.
