Töplitsch-Puch cycle bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Thanks to this modern bridge for cyclists and pedestrians, Töplisch is now excellently connected to the Puch train station. Not only the bridge itself is an eye catcher, the view from it is really beautiful!

Quiet and quiet, the Drava meanders through the lower Drautal valley and offers the opportunity to stop off at the Gasthof next to the bike path in Feffernitz.

June 2, 2025,From Villach to Spittal an der Drau
A scenic route along the Drau River that follows bike paths and low-traffic roads. The surface is a mix of pavement and gravel, suitable for touring bikes.
The accommodation in the Lueg ins Land was rustic, felt like a ski hut. The room was great, newly renovated and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The breakfast with the homemade herb spread was also very tasty. So we can enjoy a nice descent down into the valley until we are back on the bike path.
The bike …

Spittal to Villach, mostly on the Drau. Unfortunately again completely in the rain. Hotel Voco in Villach very modern but very practical for cyclists.

Today it was a relaxed 40 km, mostly directly along the Drau. Every now and then a power plant came. The remnants of the August storms can also be seen on this piece. One or two parts of the Drau cycle path were probably under water. Overnight stay at Harry's Home again.

For us, Villach was the most beautiful city on our tour.

We drove this section before 5 years ago, on the Alpe Adria route. Back then, too, we drove the 40 km through the rain and could only imagine the beautiful landscape behind the white fog. The path is definitely nice... if you see something and don't just have to pay attention to the puddles.

After setting off in Spittal, we leave the high peaks of the Tauern behind us. The ride on the Drauradweg to Villach is of the relaxed kind: not without charm but rather few highlights.

Against the increasing heat (up to 30 degrees today) we take various measures: breaks in the shade, I put a small, water-soaked towel on my head …

The fifth stage of our Alpe Adria Tour takes us along the Drau Cycle Path from Spittal an der Drau to Villach.
Well-developed and varied cycle path, perfectly signposted.
The highlights of this stage certainly include the heart of the Drau near Kellerberg (the photo stop) and the ferry at Lansach.
Otherwise a nice relaxed river bike path with few …
