Amberg's "Stadtbrille"

Always a beautiful sight and highlight of every city tour. The two arches are reflected in the water of the Vils and thus result in the well-known "Amberger Stadtbrille".

May 22, 2025,2.Etappe Fünf Flüsse Radweg Von Amberg nach Regensburg
Today we did Stage 2 from Amberg to Regensburg. We liked this route better. It first runs along the Vils River, then along the Naab River until you reach the Danube. Even though it rained at the beginning, it was a very nice, quiet route. It was a lot of fun. Regensburg is also a very pretty city.

From Amberg to Kallmünz, the route first went along river no. 2, the Vils. Passing various castles: Theuern Cultural Castle, Schmidmühlen Castle and Traidendorf Hammer Castle.

In picturesque Kallmünz (with a castle towering over the town), the Vils flows into river no. 3, the Naab, and you then follow this until it flows into river no. 4, the Danube, near …

A very beautiful part of the day! Almost the entire time, the various cycle paths are close to the water. By close, I mean the water is practically next to you, and the cycle path is well-developed. The roads are mostly far away, and you get pure nature. There are shallow spots for swimming at the beginning, but in the …

We start a wonderful day in Amberg. The Vils Cycle Path is absolutely fantastic and hardly used at this time of year. Kallmünz is always worth a detour, and then the equally beautiful route continues along the Naab River beyond Bad Abbach. The Danube Cycle Path is, of course, much busier.

The second day was already good.
The overnight stay in the Hotel Röhrl in Eilsbrunn is highly recommended.
The third day topped the previous one!
First along the Naab then to Kallmünz. Flows here
the Vils into the Naab.
Along the Vils to Amberg.
Then continue until the next night at the Hotel Sperber Bräu in Sulzbach.
