The Stadtbrille is first documented in 1454 as a crossing over the Vils. When the water is calm and clear, the building is reflected so that it looks like wire-rimmed glasses.

Cycling

When the building is reflected in the waters of the Vils, its arches look a bit like glasses. Perhaps that is the reason why the water gate is popularly called "city glasses". The first building mentioned in 1454 is 46 meters long and spans the Vils - definitely one of the highlights in Amberg.
