March 5, 2023,NSG Brenner Moor & Wolkenweher Niederung, Kloster Nütschau, Trave
The "Brenner Moor" tour has been slumbering in the depths of my "planned" folder for years. Today this white spot should finally be opened up for me. In fact, today's hike exceeded my expectations.

We started from a hiking car park near to Wolkenwehe (a nice place name!) to do two loops, each about 5 kilometers long, from there.

A lovely hike that conveniently starts near a parking lot in Bad Oldesloe's pedestrian zone. Parking is free for 3 hours. After the hike, you can stop for a bite to eat. We observed many different birds, including cormorants, herons, cranes, ducks, swans, and kites. A stop at the "Elvis" ice cream parlor is highly recommended. We also noticed two …

The highlight were the little fawns at the Altfresenburg mansion
I could see a family of …

And the tour was in the "Planned" folder forever. Unfortunately, I can't remember who I saw and thought it was good for 🤷🏼‍♀️

I had long considered doing the walk at this time of year... nature is still in hibernation, and the bird world is also cautious. But it was more than worth it. The lack of a canopy of leaves meant that many views were possible that would certainly be impossible when the vegetation was in full bloom. A wonderful walk in …
